Painting Wiggle WOYWW 348
Back on the blog this week after having more men in last week 'doing the electrics'. I have set up my stuff on the table to finish painting Wiggle today as I have to have it completed by Friday. Wiggle came over here from Oz with her owner last year but unfortunately met with an accident and is no longer with us - so this has to be right. I'm half way there - just got the second eye to sort out and redefine the poodle coat. Note that I had to add some orange to the black dog. I have used the same water pot for over 30 years - disgusting but I can't chuck it away. The tablet has the original photo for reference and is great because you can zoom in - however I hate just working from a photo since the painting can become lifeless but it's all I have.
I am painting on a block cut from a 1" thick chipboard sheet with acrylics which I have put on stay-wet palette paper in an old cat litter tray - this way I can leave the paints overnight with the tray in a plastic bag and they are still workable. Since I am sitting to paint this I have to remember get up and move further away from time to time which is an excuse to go on the web to see other folks desks today.

Blimey Jackie, that is AMAZING! You are so talented, the owners are going to adore the painting. And the orange is weird, but it works brilliantly :-)

How can orange ever be weird! The painting is a gift to my daughter's partners twin brother who is currently living over here. Wiggle is buried in our garden.
DeleteThat's just fab...what a great reminder. Nothing lifeless here...made me smile, the thought of dogs and cats posing for you for hours on end! Love the water pot story, nothing disgusting to me, I'm assuming you changed the water a few times in the 30 years!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for that - well sometimes I don't change the water often enough and naughtily leave brushes standing in it.
DeleteAmazing painting, your table looks so clean, I'm a messy painter
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your art

Great idea with the litter box! Your painting looks very realistic! I will never be able to paint like that - that's why I do the whimsy stuff instead! Poor little Wiggle - this will be wonderful for the owner to remember her by. Thanks for stopping by earlier! zsuzsa #32
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute picture of Wiggle. I'm sure the owners will be delighted. The orange works very well doesn't it. (My fav color)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your daughter has a light box. It helped me no end and i hope it is helping her too. The first ones were quite large (I'm talking 20 years ago) now I have a bluelight one that fits in my handbag!
Thanks for the visit and the encouragement,,
Happy WOYWWednesday,
Lisca

ReplyDeleteOhhh Jackie this is wonderful:) Love your tips on leaving out your acrylic paints. I think we all develop a formula and stick to it. I have just bought a tube of "new gamboge" w/c which is funny as you mentioned it the comment you left. Have a lovely week.
