Today I thought about moving on some more of my stash -this time laces and nets. I have used these for lots of embroidery projects in the past but in no way could I ever use all I have so I am making up transfer painting packs with papers I have painted using transfer inks - this is the technique I used to make the fabric for the little treasure box on the blog last November .
The colour on the papers changes when it is transferred to the fabrics and some fabrics take the dyes better than others because of the fibre content so the outcome can be a bit random. They are great for colouring those man-made fabrics that you can't find a use for anymore. This is a removable book cover I also made using this method. Now I am going to write an instruction sheet to to with the packs so I have to do some thinking - time for a coffee.
Just in case anyone is interested - here is the completed hat from last week - not on my head for the pic - and yes I have worn it.

Interesting technique! I haven't come across that before but it's very effective. And I love your hat, I bet you look great in it :-)

ReplyDeleteI'm so intrigued by the heat transfer inks! I'll try to find out more about them! Hmm, I wonder if they would work on polymer clay? Very snazzy hat! You should be modelling it, LOL! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #47
ReplyDeleteI love how you've used your transfer inks - the book cover is stunning and I just popped over to look at the little treasure box - it's absolutely gorgeous. I have a heat press and use the inks in a fairly unadventurous way - I'm thinking I need to do more with them after seeing your work! I love the hat too - very stylish and lovely colour combo. Thanks for stopping by mine earlier, and I hope you have a great week,
