An early start this morning watching America implode and all I can say is zeitgeist. Anyway it's that time of year again where we think of a new style for the Christmas tree festival at
Maxstoke Church. We are upcycling a wooden pallet so here I am making thing to hang from it which are a bit rustic. I am using old potpourri (can't throw that away either) together with stuff from my pantry e.g. cloves and cardamom, and the hessian also makes strings to hang the ornaments. What did we do before glue guns? Below are some already finished.
On Sunday I went with a couple of the 'Shedders' to the NEC for the Christmas Crafts Fair and met up with Shaz Brooks, and Doug of course, for a natter and coffee. It was great to meet one of the WOYWW crowd. I bought a giant crochet hook - I have toyed with making one from a broom handle for the last couple of years so I realised I would never get round to it - so many things to do. Here I have started a sample for a rug made from one of my old jackets - orange of course - it will be good to do in front of the tele and at least it will not have any more election stuff on it now.
Just LOVE those decorations! I would never have thought of using those items ..... how many times do I say that to you? lol
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time at the show, hope you bought more than a crocheting hook.
Have a good week

Hi Jackie, was lovely meeting you! and your 'Shedders',lol. Wasn't at all impressed with the show this time, managed to buy some goodies though! Can't even imagine how big that hook is. I agree about glue guns, however did we cope? Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #8 xxx

Love the rustic look. It reminds me of when i was young and we made all the decorations from things we could find outside.

That is a brilliant idea. I have often though it seemed a shame to throw some of those away as they can be very pretty. Thanks for sharing the idea. Happy crafty woyww, Angela x 19
ReplyDeleteI love using Potpourri for art - it smells so nice! I used to used it for gluing when I was teaching pre-school. Thanks for sharing! Lindart #47
ReplyDeleteIt was great to see such a lovely photo of you and Shaz over at her blog - I'm glad you enjoyed the NEC. That crochet hook is ginormous, it must take some wielding....though I bet you make up the rug in no time at all. Love the bits and pieces you're upcycling too, they look great. You have such clever ideas :-D

Oh my goodness! Your ornaments are beautiful! And eco-friendly to boot. Have a great week! ~Heather~ WOYWW #51
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated WOYWW. I always fancied having a go with the huge knitting needles you can get - but sensibly realised that I would not be able to manage them. Ali x #12
