The Larger Lady WOYWW 378

This is not a very interesting workdesk - These are pages, painted with emulsion, from a small catalogue (the type which is screwed at the edges) which I intend to use as a workbook for an idea I have for a group of paintings.

It was more interesting last week but my internet was down. I bought a mannequin from what was BHS a couple of weeks ago - I only wanted the torso and thought the price at £30 was too steep but behold.... Evans department in there were selling the whole mannequin for £10. I asked why it was so much cheaper and the sales girl said that no one wanted the 'larger lady'... well this one did. I have collaged it with papers and then over painted/inked it with the intention of making it into a light when I have a bit more time. It is wearing one of my knitted creations. I still have a bottom and a pair of legs to think about.

If anyone would like to join in desk hopping on a Wednesday click on this link to Julia's place.

  3. That torso is so cool! You could keep altering it for each season to keep you occupied. I'm appalled that no one wanted the "larger" lady, LOL! Doesn't even look that large only compared to the anorexic models, I guess. Those blank pages hold a lot of promise and possibilities! Enjoy your week! zsuzsa #18

  6. Heheheheh - it never occurred to me that they'd be selling all the shop fittings too! Good purchase, eh!

  7. Happy WOYWW. That is a great buy. I saw on the tv that they were selling all the shop fixtures too, but our nearest store was still 1 hour away - and I was not up to driving that far. I have a friend on Facebook who sells mannequins - all shapes and sizes! Ali x #25

  8. Well, yet another 'different' project today! My friend once blagged a mannequin from John Lewis (she had some connection there) forme to use in displays at work and brought it home on the train. Hope you had a car! Happy WOYWW Cindy #27

  9. Hi Jackie, I love the mannequin. Maybe you could put striped stockings on the bottom half and a pair of black pointed shoes and have it stuck on your roof (the nasty witch in Wizard of Oz):)

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

    Happy WOYWW

  17. I'm loving your mannequin, although I would hardly class her as a 'larger lady'- I think she'd perfectly proportioned. The pages look interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them. Thanks for the visit earlier, hope you have a lovely week,
