Owls for Donna - WOYWW 372

So I am in the process of making some owls for a fundraiser on 23rd August in celebration of Donna proceeds to Marie Curie. She was one of our ladies at the Hospice on Wednesdays who liked to make cards and loved owls - so I thought I would make a few bag charms/ key-rings to sell. I didn't have any dainty patchwork type fabrics in the stash (I always printed most of my own) so I asked my sister-in-law Sheila if she had any tiny bits she had no use for - and she obliged with a lovely variety.

The backing for them is an old Witney blanket which I have sort of felted - this has been used on many quilting projects over the years. I thought I could ask the ladies who Crunch if they would like to contribute a few owls too - for the non-sewers I have found an easy crochet pattern which is free on Ravelry here. The orange owl is made from left over bits from a coat and skirt I made, in a style I have seen done in many ways on Pinterest.

Well it has been a bit hot and sweaty over the last couple of days - hope it stays fine for next week - off on holiday to Yorkshire.

.
Feel like joining in? -  hop over to Julia's blog where she kindly hosts WOYWW every week.

  2. I love your little owls. I'm sure they'll do well. I have a heart for the hospice and I am very pleased your fundraising efforts are going that way. I have worked at a hospice for 22 years (as a specialized palliative care nurse) and loved it. Such a privilege to work there.
Thank you for visiting my blog already and alerting me to the Friday link.
    Have a great week,

  20. What a lovely tribute Jackie...pretty, useful and fund raising, I think Donna would love your gesture. The Owls are sweet, so cheerful in their patchy loveliness. Am very impressed because I suspect they might be a bit fiddly!
