Remaking Jewellery WOYWW 358

I have just finished making a bracelet using beads from a broken necklace. I am not a 'beader' but friend Pat from Spellbound Beads brought some beading stuff to CRUNCH  last week to show us how to 'knot' amongst other beady things. She let me bring back a demo board (the one on the left) to play with so now I have another way of using up all the beads in my stash - I don't have that many pretty little beads (I think I built up a dislike of these after having to bead wedding gowns for a couple of years) so I have to make something a bit more striking. I completed this bracelet but the finishing is not up to scratch so I will remake it - at least I will have something to show Pat at lunchtime.

This a bit of embroidery that I will take along to the craft group today so others can play with the beads. It is onto an woolen old blanket - not much of this left now since it has been used on many projects - which I will probably turn into brooches. I will have to clean my front window before I go because the sun is shining on it and it is disgraceful - what would my mother have thought! She would have got out the newspaper and vinegar water.

If you would like to join in deskhopping on a Wednesday check out Julia's link here.

  1. Newspaper and Vinegar! that's a blast from the past alright. The man over the road sells cars and I noticed the other day he was using newspaper to clean his car windows.
Will try to pop in to C.R.U.N.C.H. later, if Little Soldier goes to sleep!

  2. Clever you to do some beading! I've never done anything like that.I did actually bead my bobbins (lacemaking) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Someone in the group had brought a large box of mixed beads and i had the time of my life.
Love the embroidery on the woolen blanket.
Thanks for your visit and your kind comment,
    Happy WOYWW,

  3. Dirty windows, vinegar and newspapers... your words just threw me back in time, viewing my old aunt (actully the aunt of my dad, what's the name for that relative?) cleaning her windows. She was in Zeeland's costume too which makes the 'old fashioned picture' complete... Good luck with your projects. Happy woyww and a hug from Holland! Marit #26

  4. I never knew beading is done on these boards! I guess it makes sense, cause you need some sort of tension. Never tried embroidering with a lop either. Then again, last time I did embroidery, I was in primary school, LOL. Have fun in your craft group! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #32

  6. Beautiful beading. It is lovely to look at and such detailed work. I haven't done any beading for years. The embroidery is coming along nicely. I haven't seen a hoop like that in ages! I used to have loads but now use the Qsnap frames.

  9. Your beading is lovely, just my colour scheme. Sometimes it's quite nice to return to something you'd fallen out of love with isn't it?
I had to smile at your windows.... I always make it rain when I clean mine.

  10. What wonderful bracelets you have there!!
Yes vinegar water and newspaper. Seems to remind me of my windows... they certainly need to be cleaned too. Maybe tomorrow ;-) I'd rather paint!
Wishing you a creative fun week to come... hope to see you next week again at WOYWW♥

  12. I still use newspaper and vinegar on my Windows and vinegar and water on the wooden floors. The house stinks but at least it looks clean ( on the odd occasion I do them)
    The beadwork is lovely

  14. Great job on the beading! I have never attempted beading yet, but maybe...,
My grandmother used the newspapers and vinegar and swore by it. My mom uses vinegar and water on her wood floors too!
    Happy Creating!
