Using up bits of wool WOYWW 350

Today I'm working on the little table in the conservatory adding even more colour to the bright green (brighter than you see here) finger-less gloves I've just knitted. This is my box of small scraps of 'woolly threads' which are too short for most projects but I can't throw them away. I could have done with these a couple of years ago when I became sensitive to light and wore gloves and a hijab like scarf all summer. That's when Christine, aka Bishopsmate, first met me - slightly overdressed in the library.

Here is another hat I've just finished using woolly scraps  - it's reversible. The base is made out of netting from a bag of satsumas woven into whilst stretched over a ball - I got to use those really chunky threads on this.

Yesterday at our craft group Christine said I had to give you a pic of the papier maché figure I was doing last week. So here she is with her orange, handbag, hair and shoes - that's one of my large canvasses in the background.

Have a good week. Jackie

  8. I love the figure! What a great lady.

The gloves look fantastic - I love all the colours. I'm not usually a green person but those look great. We need bright colours in the winter. Certainly nothing around the landscape here is bright.

  14. Wow a lady after my own heart I too can't throw anything away. Got boxes of wool that I bought when the children were small and that's 40 years ago.

  16. Now that surely is the opening line of a novel "And that's when I first met Christine, overdressed in a library......" !!!
Your ability with yarns amazes me, I'd never have thought of using up scraps like that in a gazillion years :-)
And your lady is wonderful.....I think she's a bit of a party girl, eh?!

  18. Hi Jackie, love your box of wool scraps. I save stuff in old biscuit tins too. Your wool embroidery is beautiful and the hat is amazing. Who would have thought that the base is made from orange netting. Love your lady too. After yesterday we now have a lovely sunny day though it's still quite chilly. Hope it didn't snow for you as forecast. I remember, too, how popular granny squares were in the 60s and 70s, especially for making dresses and ponchos. I plan to start the next giant one this evening - this one is for my lovely niece. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #41
